Barr & Prevost provides QC/QA testing and inspection services for Portland cement concrete, mortar and grout, and hot mix asphalt performed by ACI and ODOT-certified technicians in the field and our laboratories. We operate testing facilities in Columbus (2 miles from Port Columbus International Airport) and Cleveland, Ohio (Centrally Located Downtown). In-field testing and inspections are performed at the construction site or at the material batch plant. Field vehicles are fully outfitted with testing equipment and supplies, and we utilize a climate-controlled trailer for on-site storage of concrete test cylinders when environmental conditions are expected to be outside acceptable parameters. Laboratory tests are conducted at our AASHTO R18 certified testing facility. Our lab facilities, equipment, and personnel are regularly inspected and evaluated by the AASHTO Materials Reference Laboratory (AMRL) and the Cement & Concrete Reference Laboratory (CCRL). In addition to hard copy records, Barr & Prevost posts all field and laboratory test data and logs on our secure login website for easy reference and retrieval by our clients.

Barr & Prevost offers comprehensive construction inspection services and a well-qualified team of inspectors with a wealth of field experience and expertise in various engineering and technical disciplines. Services are typically provided by Barr & Prevost personnel posted on-site on a full-time basis throughout the construction process or during specific stages of a project and range from construction management and administration, to visual and hands-on inspection, to field sampling and testing of materials. As a corollary service, our two materials testing laboratories (Columbus and Cleveland, Ohio) provide scientific analysis for concrete, rock, soils and aggregate . Our inspectors and project managers ensure that contractors comply with all contract requirements, structural and material specifications, applicable safety ordinances and regulations, and other regulations. At the construction site, they catalog daily inspection reports and corresponding photographic logs, and various records such as issued permits, and they keep detailed checklists that document the ongoing status of a project. This diligent record keeping is crucial to managing contractor pay requests, helping ensure that distributions to contractors are consistent with the verifiable percentage of project completion at any given point in time. In addition to hard-copy records, all documentation concerning a project, including field and laboratoryâ¦

Barr & Prevost provides a full range of drilling services in support of geotechnical investigations. Our drilling technicians perform sampling of soil and rock for field and laboratory testing that reveals critical information about the subsurface conditions and materials at a project site. Barr & Prevost operates two rotary drilling rigs (one truck-mounted and the other ATV-mounted) and one direct push Geoprope unit (typically used for environmental drilling) from our Columbus, OH and Cleveland, Ohio Laboratories. We also maintain access to additional lease/rental equipment, including skid-mounted CME45 rigs. Technicians are trained in field classification and the preservation and transport of geotechnical soil samples and rock cores, and have accumulated significant field experience in providing drilling services for a wide range of civil and architectural projects including bridges, roadways, trails, buildings, towers, airports, and water treatment facilities.

Accuracy in survey measurements and calculations is critical to a projectâs success, providing the foundation underlying design development. The Barr & Prevost team of licensed professional surveyors, qualified party chiefs, and supporting personnel provides our clients with the right combination of training, and field and practical design experience that makes for an accurate and well-managed survey. Surveying is not a static engineering discipline, and new technologies have emerged that allow us to offer our clients an innovative approach to surveying that assures accuracy and lower costs. To this end, in addition to the use of conventional surveying equipment and methodology when and where appropriate, Barr & Prevost is equipped with the most current GPS survey equipment and reflectorless technology. The use of GPS equipment allows for rapid field data collection (typically, up to 1200 field shots per day under favorable conditions) with a reduced field crew size, while reflectorless total station technology eliminates the need for need for a prism rod (and the need for a rod man) for many survey tasks. Significantly, the use of reflectorless technology allows survey data to be obtained âin-trafficâ without the need to close lanes and cause inconvenience to the traveling public. We haveâ¦
